Faster and safer than Internet Explorer. If you get Mozilla Thunderbird for your email, you’ll be doubly safe.
As far as email is concerned, I consider that using your isp’s email address (earthlink or sbcglobal or roadrunner or something like that) means that you end up with a) a lot of spam and b) if you change your internet provider, it’s like getting a new phone number. My suggestion is twofold. A gmail address. (www.gmail.com) And then another gmail address for public use. All your email will be saved by them, so you can’t lose too much ever. If that matters to you.
Lastly, if you think maybe there’s a chance you’ve deleted stuff and want it back, check out: Data Recovery by Easeus.
This saved me once or twice. The trial version allows you quite a few saves, I think.
